Show the connection in context and explain whether it is indoors, outdoors or in a wet area. Photograph cracks, separated edges and adjacent damage. A close-up alone often leaves out important context.
Agree material and function
Planning should establish the role of the connection and a sealant suited to the substrate. Painted joints, natural stone and plastic frames need a specific material assessment.
Describe related symptoms
Include draughts, moisture or cracks in adjacent elements when present. The visible seal may be only one part of the complete building connection.
