Document window connections for an enquiry

A window connection includes more than its visible seal. Show location and symptoms together for an initial enquiry. Describe what you observe without assuming a concealed cause from one photograph.

Identify the location

Is the connection inside or outside? Which window and side are affected? A whole-window photo helps identify it. Add close-ups of separated edges, cracks or discolouration.

Name the materials

Include frame, adjoining wall and surface finish if known. Painted areas, natural stone and coated frames may require different approaches. Leave unknown materials clearly marked as unknown.

Record related observations

When is the change noticeable? Is there moisture or a draught nearby? These details help identify checks needed, but do not by themselves prove a cause.

Clarify access

For external connections, reach and access equipment form part of planning. State floor level and access conditions. Further checks depend on the actual window.
